NHS England's London update in August 2025 reported that around 61% of the capital's patients over the age of 13 were using the NHS App. Most London hospitals were described as offering its core functions.
Bringing information together
Viewing appointments, referrals and information before a visit can reduce the number of separate places a patient needs to check. For services, digital communication also offers a way to share information through a channel people already use.
Usage is one part of the picture
An uptake figure shows how widely a tool has reached, but it does not explain every person's experience. Availability of particular functions, confidence with technology and support when something goes wrong still influence how useful the app is.
Checking what is available locally
Patients can use official NHS guidance to understand setup and the services enabled by their providers. The London figures offer a snapshot of adoption at the time of the announcement, rather than a current measure of use across every part of the capital.
